Trunk-or-Treat Simple Decorating πŸŽƒ

Time to get spooky y’all, it’s Halloween! This year, I tried my hand at Trunk-or-Treating.

Decorating for a Trunk-or-Treat is one of those things that can be super simple or it can be very labor intensive and over the top. I think my best friend and I did a good job at keeping it simple while making it look like it must have been labor intensive!

Choices you will be faced with when decorating are things like are we going to attempt to replicate the picture or are we going to print it out and use cutouts? The answer –> Make your life easier and just print it out. That way you avoid any I’m going to rip my hair out moments, and save yourself the hassle of messing up and having to start over… and over and over and over. Because who in their right mind has time for that?!

Before you can even begin the process of printing and cutting and all that good stuff, pick a theme. Pick a theme and stick with it! If you don’t pick a specific theme you will end up all over the place, and then there’s just no guarantee that all your hard work is going to amount to anything you’d be proud of, just keeping it real with ya!

Overall we spent less than $20 at Target for our supplies, granted we did use stuff from around our house as well. Our theme was The Nightmare Before Christmas because it’s the best movie ever and we both had super cute matching leggings. So obviously a no brainer!

Below are the basic supplies you need to totally win your next trunk-or-treat!

  1. Poster board (color depends on individual theme)
  2. Crayons/colored pencils/markers
  3. TAPE
  4. Access to a printer (for all your easy peasy character cutouts!)
  5. Target’s $1/$3/$5 section at the front of the store. You know exactly what I’m talking about! Raid it. Conquer that section! But seriously, you will find all the little props and things you need to give it that special touch or added spunk (depending on what vibe you’re going for).

Now of course I’ll include pictures of how ours turned out so you can put the words on a page to the actual outcome! I’m also pretty dang proud of the job we did. πŸ–€

Please excuse the lighting, we tried our best to get good pictures at different times but the atmosphere was not in our favor. But my absolute favorite decoration of the display…

Because who in their not so right mind doesn’t love Mr. Oogie Boogie Man?? πŸ‘»

Trunk-or-Treating was very fun to participate in, it was definitely nice to actually put something together and contribute! It was also very amusing to see all the kids look at the Christmas tree very confused because they were not familiar with NBC. Safe to say it was a successful Halloween! πŸŽƒπŸ–€πŸ‘»

I hope you all had an amazing Halloween as well, and I look forward to all the pictures of you and your families!

With love πŸ’œ

Semi-sane and overly-caffeinated. Happy mama & happy wife. Everyday is an adventure, so you might as well tag along!
