Hey pretty lady, I know you’re tired of making resolutions that don’t last. I know you’re tired of the overly complicated and never really work “get fit quick” schemes. And that my dear friend is why this busy mom’s guide to getting fit was made for YOU! If you have the determination to get it done, it’s actually a lot easier than you think to sneak a workout into your busy schedule. Because let’s face it, as moms we always have a mile long list of things to do. That being said, we often let that be our excuse to not workout.
That excuse (and ALL excuses) ends here.
Making the Time
Ah, the dreaded t word. It seems that there is not nearly enough time in the day. On top of that, you might not have the motivation to do it. Luckily for you, I have just the thing to kick your butt into gear! You need organization and discipline to make this work, and you can read all you need to know in those regards here.
Now that you know what you need, we are going to dive into when exactly you’re going to sneak your workouts in! The biggest thing is it to start small and work your way up. My favorite time of day to sneak anything in, is first thing after waking up. Baby is still asleep, and I actually have a few minutes to myself before the chaos of the day starts. How you start your day really sets the tone for what’s to come! Why not make it a good start?
The Nitty Gritty Details
I find it best (and not to mention setting yourself up for success) if you simply do squats while brushing your teeth. Such a small and easy task, right? Depending on your fitness level, you should be able to do at least 50 squats in the time it takes to brush your teeth. If you do that morning and night, that’s 100 squats just right there! However, it’s also important to switch things up, so alternate between squats and lunges to tone those legs and glutes!
When else can you sneak some upper body work in? Shower time. I don’t know about you, but the shower is my happy place. I milk as much out of that baby as I can. So why not throw some fitness into that? Do yourself a favor and add some wall pushups into your shower routine, your shoulders and arms will thank you when they are totally tank top ready!
One of my favorite words, nap time. Now if you’re anything like me, nap time is usually utilized to get stuff done that you just can’t do with one hand. It’s time to make the most of nap time and do something for yourself as well. Squeeze in some crunches, bicycle kicks, burpees, and mountain climbers!
Breaking it Down
Due to the simple fact everyones fitness level is different, your numbers are not going to match mine and vice versa. And you know what? That’s okay! Getting fit is a journey and requires constant growth. Start small, and start comfortable. As you build up your strength and stamina you should jump more and more out of your comfort zone. Once you get a flow going it’s easy to go up and work even harder.
