As Your Mommy, Mom, & Mother

Dear sweet child of mine,
As your mommy I carried you for nine months. I felt every kick, twirl, flip, and elbow. And when you didn’t like something I ate? You made sure to let me know.
As your mommy I birthed you after twelve painful yet beautiful hours of labor. I still remember the first time I saw your perfect little face, it was the very best moment of my life.

As your mommy it is my job to feed you, bathe you, dress you, change you, and take care of you mentally and physically, in every way possible.
As your mommy it is my job to teach you and give you the perfect environment for you to learn and flourish in.
As your mommy it is my job to comfort you, give you all the snuggles you need to get through tough times like teething, and love you unconditionally.
As your mommy it is my job to put you and your needs above myself and my needs.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As your mom it is my job to raise you.
As your mom it is my job to help you learn and to help you figure out who you want to be.
As your mom I am the homework helper, the lunch maker, the laundry fairy, the chore tracker, and the dinner master.
As your mom I will tell you no because you don’t get everything you want in life. And I will discipline when discipline is needed, but out of love as opposed to frustration.
As your mom I will be your chauffeur to school, practices, field trips, and playdates.
As your mom I will be your trusted ear to listen and shoulder to cry on.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As your mother I will be there to help you navigate through those tough teenage years when everything is hard.
As your mother I will be there to keep you on track, and do my best to help you be the best you can be.
As your mother I will be your shoulder to cry on. I will be there for your first love, your first heartbreak, and your happily ever after.
As your mother I will be there to guide you through those first crazy years of adulthood, when you’re fresh out of the comfort of your childhood home and on your own. Except, as your mother, I won’t ever leave you on your own.
As your mother, I will be right there with you when it’s your turn to experience the joys you have given me.
As your mother, I will be the grandmother to your children and love them just as I love you.
As your mother, no matter the distance or the course life takes you, I will always be no more than a phone call away.
As your mother, I will love you long past my last breath on this earth, and long past the end of time itself.
As your mommy, mom, and mother, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
